Stay away from silicone based products, paint won't stick to it.

Best to use a non setting putty type seal, as used by caravan manufactures. Comes in rolls about 1” wide. Remove the alloy strips, clean everything up and refit with the tape. The movement on these vans is quite extreme, so non setting is essential.

The hard bit is done, you can leave the exhaust manifold in place, although you will be replacing the gasket. Mixture should only be a bit of minor adjustment. You might have to do a bit of adjustment on the flanges as the two manifolds weren’t made together.

1725, the sender unit is for the oil pressure warning light. Quite a late block as it’s in Rootes blue.
