Dummy shafts are easily made out of a length of 19mm plastic overflow pipe. As said, loads of older vehicles used the prop shaft yokes with coarse splines, and I would think most prop shaft rebuilders would have them in stock. Mine did.

I made up a couple of new handle kits, (see my post in mechanical tips) one which I've fitted to my own jack, and now I have a spare. Dodgymark, if you're still looking, PM me your postal address and I'll be happy to send you the spare.

Following on from some other discussions about the wooden Jack handle knobs either being missing altogether or coming off easily, I set about sorting that too. The problem is that the turned wooden knobs are held on by a little pressed metal "top hat" clip which grinds away at the handle. I...

I could easily turn some of the wooden bits of these, but the problem would be finding the little metal spring clip that goes in the hole. I wouldn't know what to look for in the widget catalogues. Add to that the retaining groove in the steel crank would be worn (that's why the handle comes off...

Incidentally, I expect you will know this already, but worth repeating. Those silly spacers were added at the last moment with cars already rolling off the production line because they discovered that the lights (side lights I think) were too low off the ground and didn't comply with...

................but I trust you will be ditching those stupid spacers over the front springs which make it go all bandy legged!
