We've come a long, long way together

I'm after a bit of advice ...
I'm having problems with the front wheels/brakes - pushing the van forward is fine but backwards the wheels lock. However, having somebody sit in the cab seems to make the tyres grip more and helps the backwards rotation a bit.
The brakes will be fully overhauled at a later date so looking for a workaround / quick fix at this stage if possible.

The only advice I can offer is to take the drums off and have a good look around inside now. Sounds like seized wheel cylinder(s), or perhaps a stiff handbrake cable. It would be a shame to damage all your good work with brakes that don't work. You might as well do it now as later.

Could also be a flexy pipe collapsing inside and acting as a non-return valve so holding the brakes on. Also check that the shoes are actually on the right way round as they have a leading edge which gives a degree of brake assist - if they where back to front then they could possible lock up. But first, as Colin suggests, check for leaks and give the drums a good clean and maybe back the adjustment off to get it rolling.

Here is the correct orientation of the shoes

People in the past have talked about sticking brake fixes by switching the drums over to the other side no one seems to know why it works though. Not sure if that was reverse only sticking though

Close - revolving number plates, so that I can avoid all those damn speeding tickets ;)

Actually, it's chromed rear light bases for the L782 rear lights.

It's been a joy going through all my boxes of accumulated parts

Luckily I saw the forecast, I'd been a bit too complacent until now
It's a pop-up garage from QuicTent and comes with windowed side and zippable doors front and rear. Rather perfect for a restoration booth when I fit those too !
