Well its that time of year again going to get Jim out and sorted for Summer

That's what happens when you tune them too much!
Well not a great start Jim started first time then cut out, and wouldn’t start again, no fuel getting to the fuel pump so had to push him out of his mansion onto the drive.
A few areas I need to start on.
Then he went up in the world.
Took passenger door off.
Cut out some of the tin worm.
Some shinny bits courtesy of Mr Maltas at very reasonable price.

Out with the mig on with the valances.
There was stone chip painted on the valances & flute areas so I stripped it all off back to bare metal.
All premiered up. All in all a very productive day and time for a well deserved can of Fosters.
Mr P is coming over tomorrow so should get twice as much done.

A promised John came round yesterday to lend me a hand, looked at some more rusty bits under Jim, if there was a trophy for how much rust you could find on a Camper then Jim would be in the running for it.
We drilled out the spot welds on the door steps as both inner and outer need replacing.
Cut off the passenger side Step and found the floor to be solid but the wheel arch in need of some repair.
The driver’s side we found to be just the same so this had to come off to, on this side the wheel arch had been badly repair so this will require a little more repairing then the other side.
Here’s a picture of some of the rusty bits cut off, Who would of guessed that a Commer would go so rusty in just 45 years, I am sure that when we bought Jim the seller give us a life time anti corrosion warranty.
Most of the under side is now cleaned up and ready for the new shiny bits to be welded in.

That's not bad, used to drive a Nissan Sunny - on the road it looked like that pile of cut off bits
absolutely brilliant. Well done.

Today we thought we would stay upright after spending yesterday laid on our backs under Jim so we decided to repair the doors.
The Driver’s door I thought wasn't too bad until we attacked it with the wire wheel.
So we set about replacing the bottom sections both inside and out.
The passenger’s door was, as you can see in need of the same treatment.
After another productive day John went home and left me to my own devises. I put some filler over the welded joints on the passenger’s door, then primed it ready for painting.
