That size pump is for running twin Webbers or the like on a tuned engine. As Jim said 2 psi is more than enough 1.5 is about right, if the mechanical pump is OK then give it a go but you can get the little low pressure electronic cube pumps pretty cheap.
I've got a high pressure pump on mine and a fairly cheap adjustable regulator like this, test with mechanical if cheap to going but I'd stick with leccy as the mechanical ones can under fuel on hills apparently
Still pissing out even with the regulator at it's lowest setting. Looks like it's not seating inside the carb. Bloody hell I wish I could throw this one in the bin. I've already rebuilt it once.
Nightmare...need to cvheck the usual stuff - can only be a limited number of things - float gap, holed float or the cut off valve which if rebuilt I guess should be ok.
I feel your pain. Have you tried giving the carb a few knocks with the handle of a screw driver, might just re-seat the valve.
Just don't get frustrated and take a lump hammer to it
Yeah, I'll have to pull it apart and check that it's seating properly. I tested the floats and they had no problem. The van actually runs very smoothly. It's just when you turn it off that little hat turns into a sprinkler.
The problem I have is that for the first inspection to get the plates back I need to have it bog stock. Anything that is remotely aftermarket means full engineering which is just a cash grab. I'm talking even extractors or a modified manifold to take a weber/su.
I found that out the hard way when I took my porsche 928 in for the first inspection. They failed it for adjustable suspension. Even though it came like that from the factory they wanted a letter from Porsche stating my VIN/car came with that. Massive cocknuts.
This maybe a red herring as I don't know these carbs well but on my SU it did exactly the same thing though everything was set up right, turned out that the needle valve was in upside down, the rebuilder must've had a bad day... ran perfect bar the over flowing and not something I'd considered so kept putting it back the way it was when I'd dismantled it. The pointy bit needs to point up to seal the fuel inlet fully
Mine hesitates up hills unless I pull the choke out half way and then off it goes. Any ideas what could be causing this? New plugs, new points, new fuel filter and rebuilt carb.
