woolfys top secret project.

as you all can quess i will be playing around with this beasty a bit more as the months tick bye. as and when i can get time of course, and it will be finished off in due course. if however in the meantime someone out there likes what they see is going on and wants to step in and purchase this project dont be shy pick up the phone and we can have a chat ,as we can always finish this ride off to somones requirements, if they so wish. after all thats what we are in buisness for restoring and modifieing vans for customers.:p;)[?]

you cant chop a genuine old panel van into one of these, you will be strung up for it by others, if however it was a rusty old camper then thats a different story. or i could swap you for the panel van maybe.[?];)

Just to be clear, i love commers as much as anyone on here and i also regard thier heritage value highly. I would not simply hack up a good van into a ute for the hell of it. The van i have in mind is rough, perhaps too rough to bother with but with substantial work and modification it may live again. I realise that many of you have seen the pix of the death of a commer at my hands. Be assured that that one was so far gone it was mostly iron oxide and rubber!
I am not a total stickler for originality, i believe that Rootes could well have carried on developing the commer/dodge in line with more modern practice. I dont think such mods as disk brakes, better air and feul systems and modern electrics detract from thier value. They mean that otherwise slow, hard to drive or even dangerous vans get to stay on the road for us all to enjoy.

Rant over

A commer down under - or down under a commer?

i was only pulling your leg mate its everyone to there own as far as im concerned, people should be able to do what ever they like to their own vans,i mean for instance im going to lower my panel van and put a set of better rims onto it. go for it mate thats what i say.;)

How's this for a good starting point? and nobody could possibly moan ....it could only improve...

Woolfy..........just one minor point

please stop calling me collin!!

I haven't forgot you mate, just been poorly and very busy! I have your number as you also have mine. I have no idea what to realistically ask for this, as you all know I gained it for free! At the same time I spent 2 whole days (with a mate) extracting it from its bed of 11 years, plus I paid to have it ferried from there to here! I would like the challenge of making it run.....just the sheer joy of being able to say ....'I did that'

I honestly have NO idea of what to 'sell' it for or even if selling it is indeed the right thing to do?

Maybe I should 'raffle' it or do a competition or something, you know the person with the best 'intentions' wins

any ideas anyone????????

im sitting here and wondering what colour i should paint this pickup once its finished,????? maybe burnt orange on the roof and tin foil silver on the rest of the van.;):p[?]

When I say Tango I mean the brightest, loudest orange you can dream of, the kinda orange that really smacks you in the boat...

mmmmmm yes i was thinking that as well before i mentioned the other colour scheme, but thought it might look a bit to much all one colour, what do you think.[?][?];)

I remember a few years back seeing this american 50's pick up (no idea what it was) it had the exhausts going up the side of the cab in bright chrome and it was just WOW!

It will be a statement.......awesome[8D]
