This is my first attempt. Bit rough given the lack of tools and computing grunt.
Moving away from the usual panel used for signage (the window space on the side) you can make the signage massive while keeping the panel van look. A pearl or just plain metallic purple will always get attention and is about as good as it gets for colour choices (2 tone) given greens and orange are both associated with those other vans.

Please disregard the wheels ; ) Just there as place holders. Didn't bother with the top, just plain white.

I've got a much better idea in the works but I thought I'd just throw this up for a looksy.

Here's Mark II.

This builds on the original design with also trying to tie in the business more. I'm not a very traditionalist thus I've made the bottom panels one with the top panels and removing the dents/lines.

This isn't a signage design more than it's about panel work. The shape around the lettering (logo) would actually be cut out of the original body and indented (by as little as 2cm) and any dark colour would work, black, grey etc. For further effect, 'damaged' or given a rough surface - a molten metal look is what I'm thinking. The lettering all cut out of metal and chromed. Again a raise from the flat surface of as little as 2cm would work really well.

To tie everything together, the edge of the cut-out shape would look great surrounded in the same way the windowless panel edging on panel vans but smaller (approx half the width) and with sharp edges. This will show of the obvious skills on offer and brings the usual Commer-van-ness to the design so to not alienate purists.

For extra super bonus points, make the edges (as shown on the purple bit) extend beyond slightly from the original panels and curved on an arch so the centre is level with the original panels to give it a truly 3D perspective.

Again, metallic or pearl finish. Any colour with zip will work. White on top. The rear would just have the logo and contact details sign written. The front grill and bumper(s) would be great if custom made. Not something crazy, just slightly different (ie smaller than original etc) and chromed. Again shows off the skilled service without alienation.

Some work by a good airbrush artist would be great. Darken the inner edges of the logo cut-out and accentuate the shape of the van in the purple areas. This would make the design pop more but also sells Commer's to the uninitiated. More Commers on the road, better for business.

right ive been thinking about this for some time now with my wife and we have a few problems. one of which is that we are torn between two different colour schemes which we both love to bits .the second problem is that we are confused over one of the designs posted as to who actually designed it. we have given this some really great thought, and have decided that because we are stuck on deciding which colour scheme to go for, we are going to have a second place runners up prise of £30.00.cash or a £60.00 voucher to spend on some panels with ourselves. this persons colour scheme will be used not on our panels van but on our camper van instead. (and the runner up is) macker1 with his black and cream paint design on page 3, well done that man and congratulations for entering. send me an email as to how you want paying my friend. (now then) we come to the winning design and our second problem. well its like this studio sent in two designs one of which was green and the other was blue and cream, which she said panky had designed, well the winning colour which we will be using on the coventry commer pannels van is going to be the blue and cream one.( so well done both of you for that winning entry). the only trouble is whos going to take the credit for it. or should i split it between you both[?] please let me know guys as i would feel terrible getting it wrong.if you do decide to split it between you both i will give you both thirty pounds each or fifty pounds on a voucher each. which is more than i was originaly going to give awy tonight.now i cant be any fairer than that now can i.[?] please email me once you have decided.:p;)[:0]

oh and i would like to say a big thank you to evertone else who had a go at this super competition. you never know i might do another one soon.:p;) sorry you wernt all winners.
