hi there guys how are you all, well where do i start, i went to meet dave today the guy with the commer van and spares and got on really well with him,he was a really nice guy,i wouldnt say the day went as good as i hoped but it didnt go to bad either,as when i arrived i was greeted on the drive way by two well used but very tidy highway man campers one being a 1965 pa with 23000 on the clock genuin and the other being a 1970 pb version.both were blue in colour (i think he painted them him self if you know what i mean).but this didnt take away the fact that they were still very solid not just on their floorpans but side door steps aswell, there was no rot to be seen apart from the bottom edge of the doors. well after introducing myself ect we got talking straight away about commers of all things and he told me that he had been a fan of them for years and has owned seven or eight of them over his life time ,at one point he said he had five all at once(watch out mart youve got compertition) and that the only reason he sold them was because he had to move house and there wasnt room at the new home for them all,(silly man why move thats what i say).anyway we carried on talking about this and that and i told him about the forum ect ,and how great you all were and nutty and how we meet up every so often, and he was over the moon and has told me that he would like me to keep in contact about when the next meet is so he can come along with us.so isnt that good news everyone, the trouble is he doesnt do computers nor his wife so i will have to tell him by phone. anyway after talking for a while he asked me if i was after anything inparticular well my pupels widened and my eyebrows raised as i dribbled moisture down my chin , (the van i said ,the panel van) where is it. what panel van he said ,you know the one the man in the shop told me about i said , where is it, these are the only two i have here he said wont these do,what do you mean the only two i said again, the man in the shop said you had one here for sale along with a load of spares.well i have got a number of spares here he said, as he led me around the property, ive got three engines and gear boxes with overdrive ,ive got three sets of side windows for the campers with luvered windows or sliding ones, ive got exausts prop shafts ect ect and ive got a couple of sets of back doors for the campers with no rust on them the list went on. thats great i replied but what i really wanted to see was a mint condition 65 pa panel van with nothing that needed doing to it,(not that im picky or hopefull) i said. well ive got some bad news for you he replied, unfortunatly that van doesnt exist he said, well not here anyway, but i do know where there is a van and a mini bus come to think of it he said, but they are not mint their more like resto projects. where i said, anyway it only happens to be a couple of miles away from my house and i drive by them nearly every day on my way to work, well i could of kicked myself as i thught i had sniffed out all the classic cars in my area, what makes it worse is that ive actually been to this place in question a few years ago looking for other car bits and i dont remember seeing the vans then, but he assures me that they are there and have been for at least ten years or more. well i was cob smacked, you know what this means dont you, im going to have to go to work late in the morning and report that the traffic was terrible on the way in. any way it wasnt a bad day after all as i bought the rear doors for my (VANS) and told him i would keep in touch with regards the rest of the parts ect and the next meet, so if your after anything yourselves just give me a call and i will give you his number. i will keep you all posted on the adventure tomorrow, see you soon.:p:p;):D:D

Good find woolfy, shame about the ghost van. Still you still have a couple of leads to follow up, you could take some raw steaks laced with that stuff that makes dogs sleep, feed them to the scrap mans guard dogs and take a peep at what he has got lurking round the back [}:)]
