Hi all its getting to that time of year I'm afraid I'm putting a woodburner in my boat,and then thought maybe I should have one in the van too.so I did a search and there it was an old string:)so jules did you fit one and if so where? my friend fitted one where the passanger seat was but that was a diesel van I'm bit worried about hot ash and petrol if you know what i mean anyone got any Ideas?
 
Not sure if one of these might be the solution. Light, packs up, safe enough to burn in a tent (bit pricey though).

All you need is a hole to stick it out of and I guess something to clamp the feet to, and if you want you could take it outside....Brill..:D

Never could justify spending 10 times the price of teh tent on the stove but might just work out for a van?

I would be a bit worried about the heat from the stove damaging everything around it and how you will fix a removable chimney to the roof. We had a very small stove on our 56 foot narrowboat and it got hot - very hot, which was fine when we were cruising in the depths of winter with the back doors constantly open, but we had to let it die down in the evening. The woodwork around the flue did shrink and we had to constantly clean tar from the join with the roof. The roof of the boat was 4mm thick and the fixings were very solid. You will not achieve that with a Commer.

You may be better to fix the woodburner in your boat, see how you get on with it, then decide whether put one in the Commer. ;)

One other thought, many boaters store their wood on the roof. On a Commer it might fall off when you go round a corner (if you gather enough speed). [}:)]

Sorry if I sound a bit negative, but it's my sensible side showing ........... it won't last for long. :D

I don't like the idea of heavy cast iron ones,I really want Racer to make Sybhil,an empty gas bottle one that can be removed when not needed with a flue that can be stowed away until needed :DI think it will sit nicely where the rear corner cupboard is oposite the wardrobe by the back door.Gas gets too damp for my liking,despite my recent purchase :I

I put a rayburn in my coach with no problems, apart from getting it in up the steps [:0]. used a thick wall stainless tube as a flue and a stainless heat sheild on the roof around it, it was hot ;)
