Hi folks,
Ive decided to sell my Highwayman, for the only reason that i really need something bigger and quicker for the work i do with festivals.
Ive just returned from a round trip down from Nottinghamshire down to Devon and over to Brighton then back here.
The only trouble i had to deal with was a blocked fuel filter on the A35.I had no problems with overheating and to be honest it was pretty good on fuel.I shall say it needs some TLC...it starts and runs and keeps running, but it is sluggish on hills.I havent been able to set the timing correctly yet, but if i can get my hands on a strobe gun i shall, it needs a another carburettor as the one fitted is for a Landrover which makes it slightly thirsty.I did buy a new old 34IV but when it arrived the choke spring was broken, so i couldnt fit it.
Im not giving up on Commers, i really need something bigger to accomodate all my stuff and get around the country a bit quicker.60MPH is nice, but a few more MPH would get me where i need to quicker than the Highwayman..lol!.
It still needs some minor work, the front grill isnt fitted, im sure i still have this somewhere, and the heater unit isnt fitted, but i do have this, youll need to source the mounting unit though.
As you know its been hand painted on the outside of the cab and theres the artwork on the rear of the van.Not to Everybodies taste but a few hours with some paint remover would correct this.
Mechanically it is sound, no problems with the running gear whatsover, the brakes work fine having being totally replaced withing the past six months.
It inside i did remove the two forward facing seats, but these i still have to include with the van.
It is MOT'd till next june, and tax till NOV..
It does need further cosmetic work, but its expected of a van this age isnt it.
You wont need to start cutting out metalwork and finding new panels, the cab floor, inner and outer wheel arches are solid with no filler.Chassis is strong with having only two very small repairs.Inner sill panels and floor all present and correct.Front panel requires tidying up but its intact and isnt going to fall off.
There are no leaks anywhere.
Im not looking for a small fortune for this van, but enough to buy myself a diesel van suitable for my needs.
I am willing to swap for a good LWB diesel van, prefer 'hi top'.
I am genuine in this sale and will be honest if anyone has an interest.
Thanks guys.
any pictures of the van.cheers
