Cool, I've only practiced on the rear door glass. I used the string method on one, dropped the other (luckily it didn't smash) but used a screwdriver on that one as the string I had was a bit hairy[8)]
I did manage to get them in upside down though I remember every time I look at the Triplex stamps.

Follow what everyone else has said and be prepared to get sealant everywhere and you should be fine!

Fitted my screen this afternoon with Rachael and it went quite well.

Just fitted my screen today. Doddle really, just need to put some sealant around it and yippeeekiay, another job done

Really useful post, makes it a little less daunting

However, from the tech sheet for UPol 'Tiger Seal' ;

"TIGER SEAL is a one component polyurethane sealant and adhesive and is ideal for a number of automotive applications. It will permanently seal and stick body panels and trim. Will seal around windows, doors, lights etc. It will stick to most materials such as steel, aluminium, glass and most plastics. TIGER SEAL is not approved to install windscreens. Product does not have UV protection nor contains biocide, therefore U-POL recommend over-coating if used in areas with prolonged exposure to sunlight or high moisture"

After some research, I'm going to try Arbomast Auto Grade sealant instead - under £3 per tube too

"Arbomast Autograde is a one part Oil based sealant for use in windscreen sealing and other vehicle construction applications. Arbomast Autograde forms a surface skin but the bulk of the material underneath the skin remains pliable."

I used Tigerseal on Harvey's screen seal when we installed it. Makes a mess but easily cleaned off with white spirit and so far no leaks. But if you've found the right stuff then even better, and no silicon which is a must.
