Windscreen

On the motorway on the way home there was a couple of lumps of something thrown up that smacked into our windscreen[B)]. There are two very small 'hairline cracks' in it. They are only on the outside not on the interior face. I haven't phoned the insurance to check if we can get it done (as suggested on the well known adverts) yet but does anyone know if that is the sort of thing that could be filled and whether they will do it on 'old' windscreens and/or if this is a good idea. If I hadn't seen the impact I might not have noticed them.

Gutted because really want to go away again but am a bit paranoid about the windscreen now. (and we need to do teh oil seal on the back axle/diff befopre any long trips:I).

Cheers

It would be worth seeing if it can be repaired, some insurance companies will get it done for free rather than pay an excess on a replacement. Have your insurance's repairer take a look - they will let you know if it can be done.

I have found it quite difficult to actally get anything from the Dutch guy. I wanted 2 screens a while ago but had to give up.

Is the damage a crack or a chip? Chips can usually be repaired but a crack is likely to spread.

If I told you I was a pathological liar, would you believe me?

Price for screen was £50.-I'm fully comp. The story is my old screen was scratched so as you
see in the ads.we can clean it up.A young girl came and started---5 secounds after a look
of horrow and a shatterd screen.Old screens are not able to be done, they are not laminated.
After fixing twice it was leaking badly with an old rubber which Auto Glass could not obtain,
but said if I could get one they would fix it.Enter Martin Malpas with rubber-job done,
my insurance sent me a cheque for that. Commer69
