Thinners will also be breaking down the rubber, the best thing told to me by a fastidious motorhomer was extra virgin olive oil, rub it over the rubber then wipe off excess, this keeps the rubber supple and sealed but doesnt deteriate it and wont damage anything else if you spill it.[8D] i tried it on my moggy where the rubbers were discolouring and worked a treat.

from memory the extra virginess of it does something that the plain oil doesnt and if my memory serves me well i think its all to do with treating old rubbers and softening them up, so yes if your seals arent too bad or too old then i think you will be ok with plain olive oil, mine were almost new on my moggy but starting to go yellow and plain worked a treat at cleaning and protecting them, there still good after ten years! ladies are supposed to be able to use it as an anti ageing cream, i just find the smell makes me want to chuck a light salad on them and eat them:I:I[)][)][)][}] A cannibals favourite party game[?][?] swallow my leader!!!!:I[)]
