windscreen fitting advice

Any advice about fitting the windscreen back in? I've done several Morris Minors before so have some idea but the Commer is much bigger and has no insert....
Is a bit of strong string the best way? And fit from inside or outside?
if anyone has done one and knows the best way I would be glad to know.
Thanks
Martin

I did it the other week with a lot of help from Bernie - time to get messy with the Tigerseal;)
We used the cord method, from the inside, after first emptying most of a tube of Tigerseal into the grooves. The cord snapped a couple of times but we managed with a combination that and prising the seal edges with screw drivers. I put the rear windows back in last week but this time used a wire cored plastic washing line, it was perfect for the job.

I found it well tricky (on all cars) until I bought a special piece of string from Sealey for doing it. I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but found it really does make the job easier

I use a length of PTFE coated wire (fairly similar to washing line I guess). I wouldn't squirt tiger seal (of silkaflex) everywhere until the screen is in position or you'll make lots of mess.

Fit the rubber to the screen, fit the wire to the grove (join at the bottom middle) Lift the screen into place getting the bottom edge all lined up then get inside the van and gently pull both ends of the wire. A mate gentle pushing on the outside will help though not essential.

Once in get squirting, pushing the caulk nozzle under the rubber - both against the screen and against the body.

Its not to hard to do. One thing i found really helpful was a 45deg nozzle for the goo gun. Made under the peak so much easier. An ordinary one 'adjusted' with a heat gun is good.
I had the end of the cord at the passanger end of screen and could then stand in the door and press on screen and pull string at the same time.
One important thing is to make sure there is no stress on the screen once it is in. I had the misfortune of having one explode a couple of monthe after it went in. I think it was due to it not being perfectly centered in the opening, as well as the flex of the vehicle.

I just need a good rootes...
