'WILMA' FOR SALE!

Dear Commer Community,

I have not been on here for quite sometime.... but have finally decided that we will be selling 'Wilma' over the next month or so. We have had great fun with our babies and then children, camping extensively in South/North Wales and Devon and Cornwall... but we have now out grown her. We will be absolutely gutted to see her drive away.... but think the time has come.

As an inaugural member of this site back in 2005... (and previously whatever the site was called)... I have had great support and help in maintaining our beloved Commer pb Autosleeper 1970. Back then there was not much help around online, but Martin, Panky, CR and others have been brilliant since the site was set up... thanks Admin!!.

I'll not go into great detail now about Wilma, but she is featured somewhere on here on the members vans section. She has also been extensively featured in 'Practical Classics' magazine twice.... June 2006 and Sept 2007 - 'Star car.' She is totally original and has only had one previous owner and covered about 34,000 miles from new. (We have owned her since 2003 and the previous owner from new in 1970). She was unused from 1980 until 2002 and is therefore very solid with very little welding ever undertaken. (Just new cab door skins from CCP).

I am not sure how to go about selling her, whether to put her on Ebay or perhaps advertise just on CVF. She is currently stored in my friends barn, but has a current MOT (due soon) and is Tax exempt. I just need to get her out and MOT'd and of course a little clean up.

Anyway, if you are interested or know someone who might be, please watch this space. I am unsure what she is worth, but will look to get serious 'bunce' for her as she is an historic vehicle and is totally unmolested and original, except for electronic ignition and the sympathetic re-upholstering of all her cushions and curtains.

Regards,
Ray

This is one of those vans I thought would never come on the market, but if you've outgrown it then you would only be keeping it for sentimental reasons. Unfortunately life moves on and needs change so best to make the break before she starts to deteriorate from lack of use. Please put some recent pics up for newer members who aren't familiar with Wilma - and I still want that reg number;)

Here's Wilma a few years ago, gorgeous.

Thanks for posting those picture Panky... Circa 2012. Yes, you do deserve that plate.... not sure how you can go about getting it though!? I will of course post some more recent pictures in a week or two. TBF she hasn't deteriorated much..... maybe the odd rust bubble here and there but nothing serious. I will include the awning in the photo's too.

Great van, good idea about the number plate. Good luck in whatever your next project is. It must of been a tough decision deciding to sell your van.

Panky, You will have to just pull the money out and get it bought :D Can anyone actually have too many toys. Thats what i keep telling myself..yes i really do need 5 mopeds...two motorcycles...a small van ....the commer...and a caravan too !!!o_O

It's lovely but I'm happy with my two:) Unless Ray wants to swap for a very sad looking Mini with a nasty oil leak and a few bits missing:rolleyes:

Not sad, rolling my eyes in despair as I just keep adding to the work needed when I eventually do the Mini again.
Carb is currently fitted on Bonnie and numerous bits nicked for Ted.

Hi Ray,
She's absolutely perfect and I'm seriously seriously interested in this wonderful van. Please can you message me with the sale price you're asking for, then I know whether I can afford to have her... I need Wilma in my life. :)
Kind regards
Karen

Hi Karen and welcome to the Madhouse:D
I don't think you'll go wrong with Wilma, cracking van. Have you been searching for long? What has made you make the wise decision of going for a Commer?

Hello! I'm desperately seeking a Commer with an automatic gearbox. Have already missed out on a couple and still on the look out. Any chance Wilma fits that description? If it doesn't work out for the other interested Karen, can you message me? (another new member called Karen!!)

Hi Karen,
Wilma is not an automatic..... 4 speed with O/D... which was rebuilt last year. I think the automatics only come with the very noisy diesel engine...?

Thanks, Ray

Hi Karen and welcome to the madhouse:D
There are petrol/auto vans around so keep looking, there have been a few over the years - some very nice ones too:)
