Hi Basilthedog, :D:D:Dwelcome to the madhouse, most of the lunatics have escaped for the weekend in their commers down to Cambridgeshire for a meet, so I don't know how much responce you'll get before Monday, all I can say is keep looking on here, ebay, classic car weekly etc, it may take a little time but one will turn up for you. There is a beautiful yellow one in March, Cambs on ebay is this the one that'd now sold?

i will keep looking, we are ringing him back tomoz for difinitive answer.
seen billgolds one up for grabs but cant find pics of interior.
from reading all your posts it sees on average 1 per month pops up on ebay.
thankyou for the warm welcome x x x x
will be checking in daily to see if anything else cropps up.
out of interest whas the insurance like? cannot possibly be as bad as my car surely!?
x thankyou x

Hi Basilthedog :) warmest welcomes - sorry to hear of your plight - will keep everything crossed that the lady in question has a change of heart or proves unreliable - sounds like seller knows you're interested.

Insurance in generally pretty good with classic policies - if you do a search there are several subjects recommending different companies - will probably be an improvement on the car.:)

Hope you find wheels of your dreams soon :)

Oh dear...I think I may be 'lady of the street'!! Sorry for any disappointment, I promise to look after her though...I feel so bad! She will be well loved, (although I don't have a mechanic husband unfortunately!!), by myself and my daughter who is unbelieveably excited and has named her 'Maisy'. Sorry again, Helena.

eventually!!

it really is a nightmare looking at all the nice vans and feeling like you have no chance pf ever getting one...... problem is, i am a lover of the classics but a petrol head too. someone......please....please find me a decent van for decent money.....or its an audi quattro!!!!!!!!!

Awww thanks Basil, she is a beauty. Well the driving is an experience, possibly a bit scarier than an Audi Quattro at first...my gear changes were dodgy and the braking takes forever, my shoulders hurt from the steering but after a couple of hours drive home we're getting in the groove, and I am completely and utterly in love!!

Might have 'lady off the street' as my new signature!!! Hahaha xxx

ha ha ha. glad you all got home alright. you'll soon be bombing around off camping without a secnd thought of the steering being heavy i'm sure x:D

you'll haveto keep everyone posted about your excursions x
x nicci

I remember the first time we went for a long drive in Frodo, The last 10 miles or so was through country lane - having just completed 50 miles in 50mph crosswinds! Every time I saw another corner coming up I thought "+@*&, I may not make this one!" You soon get used to it though, and the way it dips into corners!

Well done on your stealth purchase. I lost out To one on eBay and I still haven't forgiven them even though the van I got is wicked it's well worth the wait. Insurance for me is about £113. Driving ralph is the best experience, you used to people staring. A couple in Front of me at the petrol station were chatting about my commer and saying some absolutely lovely comments about how more useful and spacious and rarer than the darkside. Love it

yeah, one close friend keeps trying to convince me that a vw is much better, parts are more readily available, but wheres the fun in that? and no-way!!!!

Vw's are much better????? Seriously he/she has never owned a truly classic original camping experience, my brother in law has a 1969 darkside westfalia in lovely condition and gets really p'd off when we go camping together as everyone loves my van and not his, so much so, he doesnt go camping with me anymore.....lol Why would you want to fit into the crowd and have readily available parts (when MArtin MAltas exists) and too many forums and everyone always saying " oh my %^^&$$$ has got one of them". Do you realise I am the only one within 15 miles of me who has a commer not only does that make me "the only commer in the village" but it means that Ralph is a local celebrity. try doing that with an, everyones got one VW. Try sleeping six people in your van, try fittng any clothes in a VW wardrobe, try swinging a cat in a VW, not that im saying ive done that in ralph but i could, if i wanted to..... dont listen to your so called friend GO GET A COMMER
