I got an email from a fiend of mine today with this picture attached.

Hi Rupert, I spotted this old garage in Llandrindod Wells and thought
you might find it interesting. It's no longer operating as a car
dealers; the main showroom is used as a junk shop, and the workshop is
used by a tyre fitters. The petrol pumps are inoperative. The shop
underneath the Commer sign is a gravestone mason!



Can someone pop down and park a commer outside for a proper retro photo?! (its in south/mid wales somewhere!) Failing that can someone nip down with a screwdriver ;)

Wow, that's a superb bit of history. There's loads of great old stuff like this in Wales. We need more snaps of this, it might not be there for ever [V]
 
In the mid 80s when I were a young copper in Acton there was a 'warehouse' which obviously used to be a Rootes dealership. It was about to be demolished and I'd noticed that the small windows above the main windows were frosted glass but with the various Rootes Group car names in them (Hillman, Singer, Humber etc). I spoke to the site manager and asked if I could remove the panes of glass before they demolished the building. He said I could so I arranged to bring some tools in to work the following day and remove them after my shift at 2pm. Unfortunately the site manager did not tell anyone I was coming and by the end of my shift the facade of the building was a pile of rubble and glass. Gone forever. They would have looked great in my new garage.

Just had a look on Google street view - being in Wales it'd probably be relatively cheap to buy the freehold.

It's still owned by the same family who now run the funeral directors under the Commer sign.

Behing the modern fuel pumps are the original pull out petrol hoses (I assume that's what they are).

That's the correct address, but nothing received. Did you put a full stop between dsl and pipex?
Have checked with Liz and she hasn't deleted anything.

its really quite nostalgic[^] how great would it of been to see the showrooms when they had the new cars/vans in it:)
