Where does this broken vacuum feed pipe go on Commer PB ?

Where does this broken vacuum feed pipe go from the inlet manifold on a 1975 (1725cc) Commer PB ?SAM_3873.JPG

It's normally a short small bore pipe that drops down a couple of inches above the exhaust manifold. It's designed (if you could call it that) to drip any condensation, including petrol, out of the inlet manifold and onto the exhaust to be vaporised away. The end of the pipe is only a tiny hole so any difference to the mixture is insignificant but the way yours is broken off it could cause a weak mixture, it would be better to remove the fitting and block the hole off with a plug or by soldering up the fitting.

Thanks for that. I sprayed some carb cheaner in the inlet and you can see the liquid dripping out the broken tube on the manifold. The engine will not idle and needs revving. I don't think this pipe is the main cause, but it won't help. I already stripped the carb and cleaned it to no avail, but I think I will have another attempt. Some new points arrived today with condenser, just in case that will help the motor run better. I should get some plugs. Already tested other things and set the tappets.

i didn’t notice a tube on my original exhaust manifold when I upgraded to SU carb, manifolds etc. He ran ok before (and better after)
