I've got wider than normal on Bonnie (195 something 15) so I guess they are meant for wider rims, they are a bit of a squeeze to get on the rear but they are OK. Those tyres would be even more of a challenge to get in the arch.

In my V8 van I used a wider diff with skinny wheels and had to cut away some of the inner guard to take the wheel off. That or take out the front bolt from the springs and drop the whole assembly which is about as fun as it sounds.

I need an off road tyre sadly but I don't think I'm going to get my way.

Lucky I just bought a CMP blitz truck I suppose to pull it out of the weeds.

I do remember seeing a Commer with Land Rover tyres on somewhere so they must fit. You may get away with deflating the tyre of it's bit to snug to slide in.

Is there a misprint in that tyre size?

If its a 7.00/15, that converts to a 180/100/15 on here http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_size_calculators.html, which should fit the standard 5" rim into an original wheel arch and axle arrangement, if its the correct bead profile.(Scroll to bottom of link page for rim size check)
