Wheel PCD ?

In some of the forums it says that the wheel PCD is 125mm but when i measure mine it only measures 120mm center to center or 75mm center of studs was there a change somewhere along the line?
Also how to tell what the diff ratio is, i spun the wheel one revolution and counted how many times the drive shaft turned which was 1 x wheel = 2.75 x shaft what does this mean?

Morning Frank. The PCD is 5" (127 mm)for all wheels as far as I know, I've got a set from an early 60's van on my PB and they went straight on. Remember the PCD is measured across the centre line of the wheel not between the stud holes.
That diff ration seems very low, did you chock one of the wheels before you counted the revolutions? Normal ratios are 5.125:1 with 14" wheels and 4.77:1 with 15" wheels.

Ok ithought PCD wasfrom stud to stud that explanes alot, and i did chock one wheel and like i said one revolution of the wheel and i counted 2.75 of the shaft did i do this right?

I'm wondering if you need to double the figure because only one wheel is turning so you would end up with a ratio of 5.5:1 - they did fit a 5.6:1 diff to vans with factory fitted overdrive so it may well have one of these units.
As for the ideal ratio for your new engine, I would suggest the lower ratio would be better, the 2 litre engine should be well up to the job of supplying enough power to push it along at a healthy rate of knots without revving it's nuts off:)
