What model is this

It's all in the..................................................................................................timing:)

'Harvey the RV'

Talking of timing.........I gota leave at 5.30 in the morning so best go get some shut eye. Thanks for help Panky

Will report here after we look at that camper tommorrow:)

Well are we all sitting comfortably?...Then I shall begin lol!

Bear in mind I am not an expert in such matters, so in my opinion;-

Bad bits >>>

Bottom edges of both front doors and both rear doors a bit flaky but saveable...maybe front passenger door worse due to the fact the window glass is missing, I'm sure Woolfy would be able to supply/fit a repair section

Not sure what you call it but, the air shute/box thing underneath at the front is pretty holey

There is like a box section on the underside adjacent to rear offside wheel (is that inner seal?) has a hole about 6" x 9"

No keys so cant start it (was dumped in Poole and Police asked the guy to scrap it) new documents can be applied for to DVLA for about £26

I tried to elevate the roof but decided against it half way because the timber secured to the van along the sides was decidedly rotten!

Good bits>>>>>>>

This van is VERY complete (apart from near side front door glass)

Floor pans in front very good
rear quarters upper & lower very good n solid

engine oil clean ie no water/sludge

water ok ie no signs of oil in it

engine bay clean and rust free

tyres looked ok bit under inflated

Interior seemed very complete inc fridge/cooker etc

The guy is adamant he doesn't want to break it but thus far has refused £500

Any questions and I will do my best to answer them

Oh yes and as far as I can tell the roof guttering is in very good condition' very straight and purely a little surface rust bubbles

Hello Enigma,

Thanks for the report. What are these timbers are they in the main walls of the camper or part of the pop up roof mechanism? Also what do you think its worth and in your cherished opinion would it need a lot of work to get through an MOT ?

the timbers are just part of the pop top, they run both sides along the length where its fixed to the roof

I really couldn't say re MOT...I'm really not sure what bits can have holes and which cant lol

Honestly there is something about this van being so complete that would def have me bidding if only I could afford it

It also comes free with about at least 500 spiders that I saw (shudders)

Thanks for the info Enigma. Really appreciated. My problem is I am not a mechanic or vehicle restorer, i have no concept of mending things usually the opposite :D Wonder what the guy will do if someone wins it on ebay and it goes for under £500 haha. Anyone got any ideas how I would bring her home if I won her. Its 6 hours drive from Anglkesey where I live and I carn't drive her back. Hiring a car transporter would be costly. Open to suggestions on the logisitics bit;)

There are acouple of members on here that have transporters but they would obviously want some kind of reimbursement etc

I may put in a bid in for my sons birthday....or maybe if I dont buy anyone an easter egg lol

thanks thats worth knowing. My first car was an Austin Cambridge and the AA wouldn't let me join as the age of the car made it a bad apple in their eyes. Is breakdown cover availble for these old campers. Was thinking if or when I find one that I win etc just get the aa home start on it and then claim i broken down 400 miles away fom home haha[xx(]

These days it's usually the driver that's covered so no problem.

'Harvey the RV'

we got full comp insurance for £114 with Peter Best inc breakdown and recovery

Thanks Panky.....what a cool job that would be....if only could get paid to look at Commers all day long.....and I knew what I was talking about lol

Well Colin, I think its been very decent of you to go and look at the camper and to share your findings in the forum here. Good luck to everone who bids:)

Have a crawl round under the Smurf and get to know what it should look like[^] There won't be many around as clean as that.

Spellcaster it was a pleasure, anything for the good cause:)

problem is its got our minds in overdrive on how to get a soul mate for the Smurf lol

Talking of overdrive, is there an obvious way to see if a van has overdrive??

I read somewhere in this forum that a commer with overdrive has a button/switch on the gear stick also that the gearbox is slightly longer. I am no brain just reveiting some of the great posts already in the forum. P.s who is smurf is it a person or a camper ?[?]
