Im new to the forum and have just crossed to the darkside from kombis to Commers.
The Van was purchased a week ago and now resides near Byron Bay in Oz. Not sure what year it is but led to believe its a 1970. Chassis number was the only plate i could find and its V1383527.

Itl be a slow resto with lots of rust to replace.
Plans are for a LS1 v8 chev conversion, ford 9 inch rear and reengineered ifs front end. It will be low of course. Time to be water cooled again and cheap horsepower with readily available parts.

Slammed Commers look awesome!

Any help identifying what i have done and purchased appreciated!

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE:eek: bought what is a fantastic van that will be even better that's what:cool: Your dating is in the right ball park, the front and rear lights and dash put it between '67 ish and '72 ish. I cant quite make out the sign writing on the back doors- it would be great to try and preserve that, a little bit of history that could give a clue to the van's earlier life. You plans sound awesome so please keep us up to date on progress.
And one more thing - you haven't come to the darkside, you have entered the light from the eternal night that is VW ownership (they are the darksiders on here;))
 
You are one of the very few to see the light. Great van. You will love it at times then hate it at times. Perseverance will pay off then you will never want to part with it. VW are ten a penny any way.:):):)
