Decided to have a day out yesterday down to the coast.
After managing to get a seat belt fitted across the middle front seat to get the baby chair in, and the elder two in the back we're off.....
Got to the mother in laws after having even less throttle travel than normal (about 20mm) and crawling up hills at 15mph the throttle pedal final falls flat to the floor. So with good jeans and top on I am underneath removing the throttle pedal to reveal that the roll pin that holds the pedal to the arm inside the housing had sheared but I guess now it was wearing as I had so much slack in the pedal. Fixing was done with aid of the father in law using a self taper going through the pedal holding the pedal high with no slack. Excellent job done one to cross off my to do list,cleaned up and were off again...wow what a difference it actually accelerated rather than ambled.
We get to the coast time to stop and get the kettle on

A windy day but I didn't care,watered and fed time to head home with my new turn of speed and the ability to pull away in second easier than first a suppose the 2.3 diesel engine now has it uses although still too noisy and sound deadening is on my to do list.
half way home I heard a strange noise followed by wet carpet immediately stopping to find all the coolant had been dumped,but I'm on a dual carriageway got to get safe so crawl to a layby about quarter mile away by then we have smoke from the engine bay and he stalls just in time.
Bugger my first thoughts I've cooked it!
Time to phone the RAC within 30 minutes they were there but in the mean time I had removed the engine cover to find a hose blown off and a very hot engine, The RAC allowed the engine to cool enough to refill the radiator and time to try and start fingers crossed he went first time to a very happy me but on closer inspection he noticed that there was no water movement in the rad and metal fillings so his conclusion was the water pump had gone. but he still started and sounded ok how lucky was that.
After being trailered home I am still a happy commer owner and looking forward to get into the engine to start stripping down.
