What a Day!!

Isn't restoring classics just great!!

Iv'e had my old Commer truck for a couple of years now and have been restoring her from the chassis up. We need to move her now and for a while now have been working on getting the engine ready, bearing in mind she hasn't been started since the early 60's!

Had a day off today and with the help of my Dad we spent the morning trying again, to start her. Finally and when we'd almost decided to give up for the day she fired up!!!

What a feeling, this is what its all about the excitement of getting something going or preserving something.

There was a lot of back patting and punching of air this morning believe you me.

This feeling is what its all about!!!!

kjh;)

I know what you mean, i had been given a morris minor that was up a ridiculously narrow lane and was in a hedge row with seized brakes, had been stood there for 8 years but fresh petrol clean points and a new battery and it drove out, half a mile down the road to the trailer and up onto the trailer before cutting out due to fuel evaporation!:D:D had the same with our commer, went from Gloucester to Norfolk to collect it, it hadnt been on the road for a few years but drove all the way back and never missed a beat!:D:D

Nothing quite like it, I'd been trying for ages to get Harveys engine fired up, as it happened it was because of a simple mistake, but when it burst back into life after god knows how long there was just the faintest smile on my face:D

Good stuff! there is nothing quite like it! I've had a few of those momements. They make all the pain and suffering worth while. Once I start having warm feelings towards the car again, I find myself going to look in the garage and just standing there grinning!
