Wedding Hire

Hello,
I'm afraid we haven't posted on here in a long while, ever since we sold our beloved Commer a few years back. We've always missed the van and hope to be Commer owners again some day!
Anyway, I was wondering if anybody could help us. We are getting married next summer, the wedding is in Portsmouth and the reception is at a campsite near Bordon, Hampshire. We have been looking at hiring a Commer van for the weekend as a wedding car/camper but unfortunately haven't managed to find much - certainly none remotely local.
It's looking like we may have to go down the VW route but we would really love to get a Commer since they are so special to us and we have a lot of happy memories of our old van.
I was hoping someone on the forum may be able to point us in the direction of anyone who offers them for hire.
Many thanks for your time...

The only ones I know of is this one in Whitstable

Many thanks, this seems to be the only 2 in existence unfortunately :( it's a long way to go to collect it!

Where is the campsite near Bordon? We're in Alton and I didn't know of any (unless its "the barn")

Bordon?? Turned the kebab van on its side many times when I was based there in my old army days. Lol

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

Another alternative to the ubiquitous VW might be a Cornish Wedding in a Teapot;)

The simpler the better

Ha, i like teapot but its not a commer and even further to go to collect!
Admin, the campsite is Mellow Farm in Dockenfield. We have stayed there 3 or 4 times over the years and now going back for our wedding, they have a beautiful medieval barn there we are using for the reception.
We only stayed there once i think in our van, the owner was never particularly keen on campervans if i remember, you had to sort of persuade him a little and he would only allow one van. I think he likes it to seem quite natural and envisions lines of mobile homes turning up if he doesn't keep a lid on it!

yup its "the barn" alright - been to a few weddings there, camped, a swim in the river to shake off the hangover

We may be able to provide Charlie as a wedding van for the day, depending on dates. We are based in fareham

Where there's a will, there's a way. The Commer way

Hi Commerbill!

I just randomly decided to recheck this thread this evening with a heavy heart as we had pretty much given up hope of having a commer wedding van and i've just seen your post.
Thank you so much, my email address is [email protected] if you'd like to email me and we can discuss a little further. The wedding is saturday 6th June next year, hopefully you're available!

Don - thanks mate! we put a lot of work into our old van, miss it now :(
