Weber 32/36 DGV kits

hi paul
no progress as the project is on the back burner whilst we sort out the twin 40s
my favoured option is to fit twin 150 strombergs to a alloy headed 1725 engine, this is the standard fastback rapier /humber sceptre fitting and works extremely well in my fastback rapier
having remved the panel the air filter sits on there is enough room to fit them
think this is commerjules solution as well
the 28/36dcd carb works extremely well on the 1725 engine as i have this setup on my 63 vogue and it will top the ton:D:D
the engine lid height and air feed is the problem and is something we are going to investigate.this carb was fitted to rootes cars of the 60s that had twin choke solex setups which were exteremely unreliablse
ive just bought a pair of twin 175 strombergs as fitted to vauxhalls to see if theses would fit so giving another possible solution
must admit the alpine set up looks very good tho

Thanks for the update Steve.

I'm pursuing the Weber DGV as my top option and will let you know how we get on, hopefully the height issue can be resolved without too much pain [8D].

If not the fallback is twin SUs or twin Strombergs as I've got manifolds and carbs for both.

I tried to fit this set up to my commer and it does not fit , the carby hits the left engine cover panel ,so unless you wanted to raise the passenger seat 4 inches forget it

Correct, and the Stromies are developing nice reliable power. Although I did heat wrap the manifold as the Commer engine "bay" doesnt have much air flowthrough as Stromies dont like running too hot Ive found.

Cheers

In the end I fitted a manifold for a C D which I modified for a 1 inch and half S U which works fine on my 1800cc iron head with big valved 1725 engine with extractors off a hunter .ON a recent 9000 mile trip around Australia ( which I did in 6 weeks with no problems at all ,2 oilchanges and 1 grease)the car on 500 mile checks was doing 23 m p g cruising at about 55 mph ,60 with the wind behind and 30 with a head wind .I also have a toyota 5 speed but I can only use 5th going down hill . 5th at 60 mph is only 2200 rpm and that will not pull the car.

What an epic road trip[^]
9000 miles - more than I'd do in a year in my everyday car. if this doesn't warrant a thread of it own I don't know what would :p
I think we would all like to share in he gearbox conversion - a bit more power and it would be ideal:p
