Waterpump replacement

for my two penny worth... I like to do things to my car/van that are age apropriate and could have been done by the factory if they had the inclination/money

Commerjule's Holbay conversion is a point in case.

The Morris minor scene is has similar issues, marina engine swaps (equivalient to the rapier/alpine swap), then there is the Fiat Twink and Rover K Series etc.

It all comes down to what you're happy with and what you want to spend.

Like I say I like to keep it retro, just pepped up a little. If I want fuel economy and comfort, I'll use the Modern car.

p.s. someone mentioned something about water pumps... I they fail catastrophically when they go and you will need gaskets and sealant to replace it. Oh and the bolts can easily shear off too..

I've found that in winter driving with the standard set up the engine is overcooled, ie the temperature hovers around 60-65c easy to cure though just blank of a third of the rad with a bit of cardboard, in summer traffic the gauge reads 80-90c.

I recently dumped the pulley driven fan and fitted a Kenlowe, whilst I've yet to test on the road, at idle the fan kicks in when it should and the temperature gauge stays central. (so far!)

The PA seems to ignore hills now :D

We are blessed - we will have one modified, for the longer hauls and one highly original for shorter, slower trips :)
