Hi everyone, it was us that bought it!

New to the Commer scene but we've been looking to buy one for a couple of months, after watching T2 VWs going for vastly inflated prices. Commer's are far better looking.

Any tips, advice, and suggestions for how much more money we need to throw at it are most welcome.

It's new home will be in Lancashire, providing it makes it back from Yorks in one piece. As it resided in Essex last year, we're quite optimistic.

Cheers,
Al and Rachel

Hi Guys and welcome to the Madhouse:D
We need loads of pics :p otherwise we couldn't possibly comment;) Any van is what you make of it and sometimes they can seem like a money pit, but then again if you are happy with it that's fine - run it as it is, no one on here will judge you by the condition of your van - we just want to see them on the road[8D]
You do realise that you're stuck with us and you can never leave [}:)]

Hi Al and Rachel, welcome from one Highwayman to another, I watched this on ebay when the photo's were visible it looks very original, I think it looks a straight van.... you should have fun driving it, my only advice is go slow round the bends :D:D:D

Moley and Brian the Snail :)

welcome to the forum, The only place in virtual world that keeps commers on the road and doesnt judge you whatever you want to do to your van. Are you still gonna call her Phylis, cos i think that is a great name. Van looks great but i cant see all the pics on ebay so if you could provide us with some, that would be most loverley.

Thanks for your welcome messages everyone, particularly the advice about cornering speeds! Must remember I'm not in the car late and for a meeting.

Hopefully we'll complete the transaction in the next couple of days despite some worrying ebay payment moments. It was the usual great communication with the seller right up until the point we clicked the Paypal button. Then silence for 3 days... As the seller has emigrated to NZ, and asked his dad to complete the transaction it had 'stitch up' written all over it.

But despite all my better judgements screaming cancel the Paypal payment NOW, we're going to hang in there. If you want a Commer you've got to work hard for it, I'm learning. This is the third one we've tried to buy; one disappeared off ebay without trace, one got relisted straight after we bought it (very naughty), and then this little conundrum...

Still, it will be worth it. If not, I'll be asking you all to keep an eye out for a white highwayman smoking its way around W Yorks!

Cheers,
al & Rachel

Hi I'm sure it will be fine they first advertised it on this forum earlier this year before they went to NZ, I'm sure it's gen.

Hi Al & Rachel,
Welcome to the forum and (hopefully) commer ownership :)

Will keep everything crossed that all goes well with sale - and you're amongst friends now who'll spot if it comes up for sale again somewhere or seen out & about. Keep us posted :)

Hi everyone,
All sorted. We've got her but she has had gender reassignment en route from Yorks to Lancs, and now goes by the name of Heathcliff(!). Pretty impressed that you can pay a bloke in NZ a load of cash via Paypal, hear nothing for 5 days and then arrange collection from his Dad as if it was like picking up the local free paper. Will post a report and some pics v soon.
