yes the vans starting to take shape a bit now hopefully the inner wheel arch will be going in over the next few days along with the floor sections, as you can see the main part of the van is in primer now after many hours or sanding off rust and two or three coats of genolite to kill any remaining rust. those are the new outrigger and chassey rail sections welded into place, if you remember from the earlier photos on the previous pages they had completly rotted away to nothing. keep watching this space.:p;)
 
we finished off the welding on the rear floor area today and welded in the rear wheel arch so we could drop the van back down onto its wheels again once we had put the springs back into place that is. i will be pushing the panel van out of tis workshop for a while until i can afford to by myself some outter panels to finish it off. also it needs to go out now anyway ,as i need to get sunny inside so that we can start the big strip down. i also have another van coming next week for a resto, so i have to make room for that one aswell . its all a bit hecktic here at the moment because im actually moving into a bigger workshop in the next month or so at the same location where im at now , but this unit will allow me to work on all of the vans under one roof rather than in two seperate barns. the only trouble i have is that there is no power or lighting in there at the moment and its not secure enough , so im trying to do this work as well as the restos and also my plastering work in the week as well.[:0][|)][xx(];)
 
great to see some good progress on the panel van Woolfy [8D] wish i could say the same :(

just incase any of you were wondering why the wheel arch is in orange primer and not the usual grey. its because the orange is a special primer which you can spray onto your new bare metal panels first and then still be able to weld them in place without cleaning up the areas of metal which your going to be welding , you can leave the primer on and weld through it, where as the grey primer will spit at you and the weld wont bond very well.;):p
 
I CANT REMEMBER THE NAME BUT I WILL LET YOU KNOW TOMORROW NIGHT, ITS A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE BUT NOT MUCH. ABOUT A FIVER A TIN I THINK, I WILL LET YOU KNOW.;)
 
That would be cool[8D] we could prime some of Bluebell to protect the metal and would save us sanding it all off again to weld

Must remember to ring you 2moz, don't know where the time goes!!
 
I'd be interested in details of that primer too, I've been using Upol weld through primer which costs a fortune. :)

yes as you can see there are still a few lace curtain holes to fill up on that drivers side wheelarch. they only reared there head once i had taken a wire wheel to it and took away the paint. and as you can see the passenger side front door step panel and floor arnt much better either.:(;):D
 
I am impressed - a new jig and new method of producing the correct profile flutes for the complex step panels, the results look superb [^]
