van running like poo

I took my van out for a run today for the first time in a long time but it was spluttering the whole time so had come straight back
It's had the su conversion anyone had issues with these ????
Or problems with running on 3 cos of plugs
I hasn't been starting which I traced to the starter being lazy and it was goosed .

Have you checked your fuel filter(s) for swarf/snakeskin?

There's been nothing but good reports on the SU conversion so I doubt it will be down to that. I did have a dodgy lead a while ago and that caused an intermittent miss-fire, first thing to check before plugs etc. Is it still on points? maybe the gap has closed up.

Come to think of it, mine started running sporadically on three cylinders and after dark a spark could clearly be seen from a metal plug cap surround on number one cylinder to the head.
Removal of said surround cured the problem.

Cheers guys the vans got electronic ignition so that rules out the points .
Ive just fitted a set of new plug leads so tomoz ill wip out each plug and check ive got a good spark
thanks loads

Hi pulled all the leads one by onbe today and found it was down a cylinder so tried and old lead and it was still the same so i pulled the plug and it was fouled up so i good clean and it ran a lot better and a few miles under its belt on the way to work and its running great again thanks
