Van driven but making loud dragging noise

ITS me again , whilst the kind man Mick who helped me discover the van starter problem apparently it's a spring disengage design rather than highdrolic one , my van still has Dynamo he reckons the spring was sticking so that's what was making it make the racket , sounded like metal being dragged under the van when it happened as I was driving , but still happened when vanstopped , anyway he reckons I need a leaking exhaust manifold gasket , anyone know what type fits my van 1500 1961 petrol engine , also any other gaskets ect I should replace around the engine area or anywhere . Regards Ian ,
I'm pretty sure all the iron head exhaust gaskets are the same so this will do, and you'll have few other gaskets in stock just in case

Or there is this single exhaust gasket

Loosen the two bolts that mount the dynamo so it moves when the adjuster is also loosened. Fit the belt, pull the dynamo up to tighten the belt, don't be shy tensioning it make sure it's good and tight but not banjo string tight, then tighten the adjuster bolt and finally the two securing bolts.
Thumb pressure tight,?
Just to be sure in the last pic is that one of the 2 bolts I loosen it's going thru a rubber mount ? there is also a bolt at the back of the dynamo that is connected to the engine via a small bracket with a bolt into dynamo, sorry maybe I need to take a day off from it.

I see the bolts now they are both coming off the block ,, nothing to do with the rubber mount , I assumed it would be sitting on a curved bracket

THE bolts must be metric sizes cause I can find anything to fit , , , plus the one nearest the front end is awkward to get at , ,

I have metric and imperial as well. It certainly makes things a lot more fun
I will have to buy some tommorrow I think halfords sells them , I hope I of my 7 different fan belts will fit , all say they are the same size on the packets but are definitely not , hopefully one will

MY GOD , HOW CAN ANYONE GET AT THE FRONT NUT ON THE ALTERNATER TO LOOSEN IT ? NoT the adjusting nut the one under neath , any tips

If you can get the belt on without undoing it then leave it as it is, it came off so it should go back on.

I got them loosened in the end , Allen key in a socket set head got me there in the end , now its putting it back I just loosened them , I actually enjoyed doing it , but not at the time ,now I have seven belts 1 from Martin just cant figure out which one it is , have it narrowed down to one but not sure if it's a v belt ,, here's a picture , and is there an easy way to measure them , bit of string on inside ofbelt ? Or just try it on ? The one from martin is the one with the teeth its new one , flat outer side look about 2 mil different than old one,

As long as the belt sits in the pulley Vs is will be fine, the belt will just run higher in the pulleys.

Ffs 2 news belts that wont fit, in today's world are they measured in mm or ? I even had the old one with me , the one I got today is to tight by about an inch or so even with the dynamo at its , so I tryed another one of the 7 i have it goes onn but looks baggy at the drivers side but ok at the dynamo side , but way to much play when I press it , Argghhh , it's so frustrating , does anyone out there have a van with same engine as mine 1500 petrol with Dynamo fitted that knows of a belt that will fit ?
