Van driven but making loud dragging noise

Thanks panky , no I meant if noise turns out to be waterpump or alternater problem could I put fan belt back on and drive it with the problem for 1/4 mile , ,at my own risk also what size spanner for fanbelt , sorry didnt read u reply properly, I have just reread it Thanks again

It looks like the red bracket would bolt onto the mount for left hand drive fitting. It’s not a lot of help and it’s hammering it down so I can’t look but if you can see where the steering box is mounted then there may be the bit on the opposite side where the box would be situated for lhd that you could bolt something onto as a tow point? It’s not a lot of help and you haven’t got the red bracket but it may be food for thought. IMG_2992.pngIMG_2993.png

I will have a look at it , on my way up now , has anyone used a town truck that just lifts the front wheels , thanks again ,

No , I dont mind paying for tow truck , I am concerned they will damage it ,, I will get one later if I cant sort it out enough to drive , having a look at it nowdown the road

I can see any external problems , everything seems as it should , belt is tight going to take it off now , maybe I am looking at the wrong place when I first heard the noise it sounded behind left passenger side or there about , could it be to do with clutch or drive shaft, as I said it sounded like metal being dragged ,, I am lost ,

Do I have reset the timing after taking the fanbelt off and starting van with it off ? Just start it for a few seconds to see if noise is gone ?
 
That’s the timing belt you’re thinking about. I imagine it starts to overheat because the water pump needs the fan belt so letting it drive a little should be fine. Just don’t rag it round the block. Don’t rely on temperature gauge as that’s water related and water won’t be pumped around so won’t tell you if engine is overheating.
 
If you do need to get recovered ask the guy to pull it on backwards, he can loop a strop around one of the rear springs without fear of damaging anything.

When calling the recovery truck company ask them to send a beaver tail truck and it can be pushed on ..
 
If not the duff one should get you home. More importantly have you started it yet to see if it still makes noises?
 
Sorry meant don't send a beaver tail truck ask for a tilt and slide truck
