I really should look this up myself, but I can't seem to find the Solex carburettor manual right now... so I'm leaning on "the knowledge" on the forum instead. Sorry.
I have a pipe which is broken in two. It runs from the carburettor to what seems to be a vacuum clock (possibly near the distributor, but I forgo to check yesterday). If you look at the photos, I've tried to mark out the pipe in question.
My guess is that it is a vacuum pipe (or whatwhat) meant to regulate the ignition timing - or something like that - when accelerating. The engine is reluctant to react when pressing the accelerator, especially when cold. It is not a great problem, to be honest, but I have a feeling this broken pipe is causing the engine to hesitate when asked for more revs.
Am I on the right path here?
Are these pipes easy to replace, and are they available? They are ever so thin, so no wonder it has broken off after some 48 years of service. I thought it would be a good idea to get it replaced with a new one, but not sure where to obtain one - and if the purpose of this pipe is what I think it is.
(I've got the earlier 1592ccm engine in my Series IIa, and not the later 1724ccm engine)
And here is the broken pipe.
