Yeah - it had a bit of work last summer - new electric dizzy from bbcsimon. The garage then said "it will only run with the engine cover off - you need to get more air to it" I didn't have time or money last summer to investigate - I really feel disappointed that it was running fine but with new dizzy and the "service" they gave it it comes back a little rough to say the least!

Any ideas welcome - I'm going to charge up the battery, clean out the carb pots and take it from there

You could do with adding some ducting. The better dizzy may have made the problem worse. Are you running K&N filters ?

Yup pair of them - not cones, pancake ones but not too thin. Would you think simple ducting to the front would do it? Like a forced air thing?

It would certainly help. With a mid engine you have very little airflow to extract the heat and feed the carbs. Thermal wrapping the headers will help too :)

Might be worth looking at electric fans to extract and feed ;)

I love the the way hes made the front wheel arches round and cut through the front doors, I was thinking of doing this to a van age ago.!:p;)
