Urgent - Brake light help please !

I was giving our camper the final check over last night ready for our run down to Glastonbury tomorrow, all seemed good apart from the non-working brake lights :( Bulbs and contacts are fine as tested by swapping the feed from the sidelights over.

I could'nt find a mechanical switch on the pedal so referred to the manual (RTFM !), which told me there is a pressure switch 'behind the valance near the offside turret' or some wording of that ilk. It was getting rather late and those words didn't make much sense [|)].

I couldn't find anything underneath the van but recalled there is a switch on the brake pipe union on offside of the engine bay which I previously assumed was a brake warning sensor. Could this what I'm looking for [?]

If so, it has 2 terminals with 1 green and 1 green/purple wire connected - however there is a further set of 1 green and 1 green/purple wires nearby unconnected and no obvious terminal to take them. Suspicious but I'm sure they've never been connected since we've had the van [?]

Any assistance on what/where I should be concentrating my efforts as time is very short for me this evening to get us on the road ready for wednesday morning.

I have exactly the same on my van. (With the disconnected wires!)
I believe this is the brake light switch.

I've just looked in my Maintenance handbook and the wires to the brake light switch(s) are Green and Purple and Green and Green/Purple.

I don't know why there is wiring for two switches - that seems a little daft.

Actually I seem to remember that the brake lights are supposed to come on when you have the handbrake on - is that what spare wires are for?

How about shorting out the two wires on the switch to see if the lights come on, that should give you an answer for sure.

The handbrake switch is underneath, near the cable, so the terminals are not for that. Try putting a circuit tester accross the switch terminals, whilst pressing the pedal. If you get a circuit, the switch is ok :)
 
FAB !!!

All sorted, a dodgy terminal connection and easily replaced.

Roll on tomorrow morning - we should get to Glastonbury by night fall !!
