Ugly Filler Cap ?

Mine seems to have a big gap between the body and the filler cap, where the tank neck protrudes.
Is this normal or is there supposed to be an extra filling in piece or something like that.
I have looked at the photos of members vans here but cant see any pics from the back, at least not detailed enough to see what mine might be missing.[?]

That reassures me that I'm not missing something, which is good
But it does look rather unfinished. Or am I expecting too much for a 1960s utility design....

I think the phrase is 'Fit for purpose' You could always make something :)

yori is as photographed, the PA has an "OIL" one which I assume to be nicked off some diesel but I think looks a bit neater.

Hopefully with one of Tim's "petrol nick proof" design tanks it wont matter that there is no lock
 
Ours still has the original screw on, which does look neat but I'm looking for a locking cap - can anybody check theirs and see whether there's a serial/model no. so I can keep an eye out (are these made all made by Wilmot Breedon ?)
 
I've checked on mine but can't see any serial numbers or any other clue to a model type - just 'Rootes, made in Sweden' on the key hole cover.
