Tyre change on a highwayman

Hi there
Commer fans
I would like to find out if there is any secrets to changing the rear tyres on the highwayman
I used two two jacks until the unit was almost ready to topple
obviously not a well thought out arrangement
we pushed pulled wrenched until it reluctantly squeezed through the undersized gap
any ideas ?

Stand the jack on a 3 inch thick sleeper of wood, it helps! ;) dont worry your van wont fall over

The question is more whether you were using a "normal" trolley or bottle jack or using the proper points?

We had terrible trouble when trying to free the rear wheels when using a trolley but that because we were jacking the chasis up into the gap yes? The proper jacking points will raise the body first then the wheels.

these are genuine truck tyres and heavy duty

after jacking the diff to lift the whole van we put a block under the chassis point jack and jacked the unit as high as we could then released the dif jack slowly
seems the gap is not near wide enough for this style tyre :(
I think I will change the tyres [8D]:D:) in case a problem occurs on the road

your tyres look the same 'high-profile' as the ones i fitted to the highwayman.They were 75 series.Like you the van tilted to a very unnerving angle, with the jack on a chunk of wood and the jack wound right up to the top i finally with a bit of 'persuasion' managed to 'wriggle' the tyres out.

we had to force the tyre down and wiggle it for about 3 to 4 minutes to extract it

hello all ive had that problem on our block of flats and i resorted to cutting a sliver of fibreglass (alloy for you) off the arch and that worked, but more worrying is the fact you have truck or van tyres on a camper, i work for a motorhome dealer and im sure there is a proper camper range of tyres as truck tyres are designed and act totally different to what a camper needs. hope this helps
