twin strombergs

i have the chance of some twin stromberg carbs and manifold, does anyone know if there is a lot of modification to do to make them fit, thanks,,,matt

Don't know for sure but by Paul's experience it would seem the iron and alloy heads have different arrangements, twins carbs were normally for the alloy head. Can you confirm Paul?

The Cast iron and alloy heads indeed do have a different port arrangement.I did intend to simplify the Hunter conversion by just refitting the single Zenith carb and standard exhaust. However as the ports are in a different position i could not.So i have now apir of Strombergs.
Twin strombergs will need the correct manifold and most likely the head to match the uprated intake of air and fuel. Then youll need a better exhaust to match the better intake to get the best performance.

Browse Ebay, you may find a manifold of a Rootes car that will fit.
Otherwise you might find a Weber carb an easier conversion.

Good luck!

:D

ive decided to stick with single weber that is already fitted,i took it off and cleaned it last night and there was no gasket to manifold and the nuts were only hand tight,,ive refitted with gasket and tightened properly and it sounds great,,,id like to do away with standard air filter and breather system, and use a k,n instead,,,,,can anyone tell me if this is viable

oh yes very good idea :p you will never need to change it again [8D]better performance, get an extra mpg or 2 etc etc...you should get your cylinders tommorow, paul got his oil filter today. :)
