twin carbs

could anyone tell me if fitting a twin carb to my dodge will increase performance,,,also does anyone know which one will fit it,,,thanks,,matt

Any carb setup from the Rootes 1725 range, ie. Rapier etc. Just have to watch the clearence in the engine bay.
A twin choke webber is a much better idea [}:)]

I experimented with a very crude conversion to a single Stromberg attached to the original manifold with a home made adaptor elbow. The performance was, by Commer standards, fairly impressive but the price paid in fuel consumption was excessive, I just about doubled my fuel consumption [V]. There are SU adapters available from Speedy Spares but they are for the Hunter manifold so you would have to convert to this set up first and some ingenuity with mating the Commer exhaust with the Hunter jobby might be required and as Martin says the engine cover could just get in the way. My effort required an inch hole to be drilled in the cover to clear the dash pot, I got away with gluing a piece of rubber sheet over the hole as the carb only protruded about 1/4" through the cover. The Hunter/SU set up sounds pretty good to me and as there is a pucker conversion available I suspect it will be better than my efforts. Has anyone seen this conversion actually done [?]
