The old girl is smiling, got her face back, looking forward to some make up and a bit of chrome lippy.

The old roof section is repairable, the new peak as shown, just spot welds to the back of the roof and gutter.
Woolfy, I have saved the old one for copying, it is complete with the top half of the screen surround, therefore easier to copy than just the panel itself
Galago, there are lots of good ones around, this one was really past economical repair, unfortunately it is the last one in the world [V] so had to be done

ok matey i will get a copy of it made when i can get round to picking it up. or maybe not this weekend coming but the one after i will be working on my van and doing some welding ,if you would like to come down for a visit and to lend a hand for the day on the van as ive never welded before, yes thats right guys you heard me correctly im tackeling this tough restoration with no welding experiance what so ever,( NOTHING SCARES ME). that would be even better mart as i could do with the support, actually if anyone else would like , to come round and help out they can and get there hands dirty, i will provide tea coffee biscuits and even bacon sarnees,to those who attend,oh and dont worry about the pebble rash il even get some ply sheeting down for everyone to lie on. just let me know if anyone is interested, oh by the way i live in coventry so its in the middle of everyone i think.
The next time I send my other half to Coventry, I'll get him to take his welding mask[)]

woolfy charlie here was thinking along lines of weekend after next to visit, will clear it with my dear lady wife (she may come up too) and get back to you later in week. hope that helps, make sure you have plenty of wire and some gas either co2 or argon!
Progress looks amazing as ever Martin, almost looks like you're in the home straight now bodywise. Hadn't realised it was last detector left, never saw one in the flesh (or even a GPO commer) none in this part of Wales.
Did the final fit of the front panel today (at last), fit was pretty damn good, nearly finished the full frontal labotomy, just need to finish the n/s gutter.will post pics when I get back mon.
