I decided it was time to let the Detector van go [:0] Not for good though, I have loaned it to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum, at
Leyland in Lancashire :)

Whilst looking round the museum we found an experimental Ts4 Engine [:0] I'll try post pics later.

To make a bit of room to get the Luton inside??;-)
Looks good there.. Better than hidden behind the roller shutter

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

Cool as! Is this the first forum member to have a van in a museum?

One of my family saw it go by - said they'd seen a van shaped like Rupert with an extra bit sticking over the front, I knew immediately you were on the road (or rather on a trailer on the road)

Not even the POVC knew about this one, makes you wonder what else they have in their archives [:0] Doesn't appear to have been restored, probably just as it came out of service :) I've contacted the Science Museum for more info. I can feel a trip coming on ;)

Yes indeed, (Photo's taken by myself yesterday) i had a good look over it and it's defo been driven straight to the museum. Most probably put through the car wash and stuck on that raised floor thingy. It's on axle stands as you can see. It's nice to see it like this rather that ultra shiny etc. Even the heel trims show it's famous pitting :D all the comms equipment looks intact etc, one thing that stood out the most to me was the rear window wipers, never seen that before on any Commer/Dodge ;) was a wonderful surprise to see it sat there. One part of me was kind of sad for Martin as he/you had little to work with when restoring yours (This would have sped up the process no end i'd imagine if you had access to it) but the other part of me was glad that it's not the only survivor.

Looks remarkable, I wonder if it's still got the original fag ends in the ash tray;)

It would have been a great help restoring mine. Looking forward to getting more info from the science museum.

Mine has the rear wipers and reversing lights. It also used to have the same mirror film on the Windows, I removed it so people could see inside.
