Hi Richard. It's a lot of work to modify for discs as you may have guessed reading the excellent write ups on here, but well set up original brakes are really quite good but, like any other drum set up, they are prone to fade with excessive use. Before setting out on such major work why not try fitting a servo to see if that will reduce the pedal effort enough for you, you'll need to fit one anyway with discs so you wont loose anything for trying and you could save a lot of cash to use on the rest of the resto

got a Spacevan that has the bigger drums plus servo...brakes are sh1t hot tbh and never faded on me. Just a little snatchy with the servo.
I'd wait before messing with other disks etc and stick with what you have or put some Spacevan drums on (might need 15" wheels). With all the modding going on I have a feeling a disk kit will soon be available.

Regarding tuning Pankys once did a scary 90mph on a 1725cc alloy head so he's the man ☺
I'm getting a rebuild at mo with some mild tuning...little bit of head work and a slightly lightened fly wheel. Will let people know how it is once done.
Tim commers SU is the nuts with an electric fuel pump as a starter for 10 and Martin does a tubular manifold and exhaust system.

Renaultvation, can I be nosey and ask what the Hope Cove Gallery connection is?
I spent many happy days/weeks in Hope Cove, as my granny used to live in one of the row of cottages that run down to the beach. The village was full of her relatives.

I forgot it was your part of the country. I believe that the van is owned by the gallery owner. My son took the photos a couple of years ago. It has been the subject of a lot of discussion on here in the past and I think Martin may have had contact with the owner in the past. The modifications are more than skin deep as you will notice from the twin exhausts at the rear. I stand to be corrected, but believe that it has a Volvo engine.
