true story 1

Once when out in my campervan the people in the adjacent vans were Mr and Mrs Smith and on the other side were Mr and Mrs Ball, I had a chip pan fire and was overcome by smoke. Lucky for me I was dragged out by the Smiths

I used to know Frank, he was the brother of the landlord of my local pub and he used to come relax and drink, and sometimes perform for us [8D]

Frank was a proper comedian not like these so called comedians of today. I cannot for the life of me see what the audiences are laughing at with the likes of Michael Macintyre or whatever his name is. Obviously the audience are being paid to laugh when the big board that says laugh is stuck in front of them.

Oh and it's not just me as I have asked friends and relatives, all about my age, but also drinkers in my local club and pub and not one has said that he thought Macintyre was funny and they are all young, at least a lot younger than me.

Quite like Peter Kay in stand up but not the max & paddy sketch type things.........he needs some new material though!

I would like to go and see Ken Dodd, they say he never wants to come off stage and it is none stop laughter, How he does it at his age I have no idea, but he went up to Sedbergh one year to visit some relations and it was the village show day and apparently he gave them a performance for free.

I remember Ken Dodd and his Diddy men...and his tickling stick......my best mates mum was the spitting image of him and even at such a young age I always thought there was something just a tad ''wrong'' about it all.......sorry to disagree but ''creepy'' springs to my mind!

I also used to drink in a pub where a retired 'Max Wall' frequented, we used to sit with him and buy him a pint to do the walk lol

I suppose, in a way, it's a good job we don't all have the same sense of humour, same as we don't all like the same music. Now me I have been in love with Doris Day, Petula Clark and Connie Francis and funnily enough I like Adele, not gonna say it's love just yet.

Thats what makes the world go round:) we are all different:) I mildly fancied Petula when I first discovered what women was lol ...................I as a youngster had all my grandparents music rammed into me so grew up with Ray Conniff, Bert Campfert, Joe Loss and such like ...praise the lord for modern stuff like radio and Sky music channels lol

My brother and me had an old radio that we used to hide under the bed covers and listen to radio luxemburg when we were kids and I can still remember a lot of the ads such as " the right time now by my H. Samuel watch is" and the football pools one that came from Keynsham spelt K.E.Y.N.S.H.A.M, but of course we were listening to the top 20 and it used to fade in and then fade out gggggrrrrr

I remember trying to 'tape' the top 20 without the DJ talking over it lol .......impossible:D

Now of course the younger end have everything, they can listen to music 24/7, mobile phones. I remember that nobody except the doctors or such like people had phones and we used to get sent from the farm to the village to make phone calls and you put your money in and got connected to an operator, gave her the number and if you got connected you pressed button A to talk ot button B to get your money back, In some ways they weren't such good old days.
