dont think so. it was planted when we bought the house from new. Part of some idea to replace trees and shrubs etc when land taken away for housing. Its 10 years old and will grow to about 40 foot high. Much too big i think.[:0] We have already removed a load of shrubs from the other side that the builders had planted and we took down one of two trees that were planted in our back garden too.;) Dont think anyone would notice a commer in place of a tree:D:D

Hope something simple for you Debs - Bessie had a smoky cab because there was an oil breather-filter above exhaust which was dripping onto hot manifold and smoking out the cab[xx(]

Just a thought, but if Skyes engine fairly clean already, maybe a photo of it from above if you can get one might be useful on forum, may give you a headstart Dozer if it shows anything up

Grew up surrounded by railway engines, diesel, steam and meths burners - quiet a nostalgic smell - but admit I didn't spend too long reminiscing before repairing it.
 
I grew up nicking parts from railways, plates, signal arms and lamps...:I tinkering with Mamod steam engines and building home made meths burners, unlike yourself i didnt hang round too long after lighting them!...[}:)]

i always remember nicking the deternators off the back of the goods trains and from the sheds in the sideings years ago, we use to try and set them off by throwing bricks onto them,god they were loud ,surprized we never blew our arms off with them come to think of it.[:0];)

the things we did when we were younger hey.i got caught a couple of times trying to set them off with me mates.we would get that mr mannering speech given to us,(you stupid boy).;)
 
If Paul & Woolfy grew up in the same area I've a feeling the train services would have had good reason to be running late - with half the equipment missing[:0]:D

Your bedrooms must have looked a bit like my Dads' garden [:0](http://www.comptondown.co.uk/photos.html) - although no detonators were used in the garden landscaping (although some home made fireworks and fertilizer at high temperature play a role in the steelworks;))

studio your pops work is fantastic .. im not a train fan but have always liked the model village versions as they usually feature a fifties one with all the period cars & Minnie people in period dress ... his detail is outstanding ... very clever man
 
Helloooo, I know its certainly not your neck of the woods but I've bought a commer in wales (flintshire) thats going to need a bit of welding and fiddeling to pass its MOT, any chnace you or anyone else knows someone who might be able to have a look at it? the other option is getting it towed to Birmingham where my parents live to get the work done there! anyone able to offer much needed advice or help - big thanks and love for this site!
