Colin, you will need an early Alpine clutch plate for that imput shaft and that crossmember looks very much like the commer one on the top but looks as though it has "legs" underneath, from the picture. If the top measures up the same, you may just be able to cut the"legs" off. When i put my "d"type 'box in i had to cut and shut the x/member (original commer one) so as not to disturb the joint between the g/box and the overdrive but other than that should go straight in.[
Did this o/d and p/shaft come from a commer/dodge[?]if so the prop should be the right length, if not may require shortening approx 2 inches. Hope this is helpfull to you.
Cheers Trev
Colin that clutch plate is not worth using, the rivets look very close to the surface plus while its out best change it to save problems in the v/near future.
back to my "rootes"
Hi Trev, the 'legs' as you call them look like they will simply unbolt, leaving the top in place, I think the top looks right...thanks for the tip re the clutch plate, Speedys?
I have no idea what vehicle it originally came from but believe it has been in a Commer at some stage in it's life the prop came with it and is defo shorter than standard, I will have a measure up when the time comes...
It's knackered[xx(]
You could try warming the bearing up so the grease flows back into the balls[:0], but probably best to fit a carbon one :I
Summer's nearly done
Yeah i thought you wuld say that I'll probably get a carbon one and be done with it....going to whip the solonoid switch out tommorrow and see if it works ok, then I can order all at the same time
