Nah, 'busman's holiday' and all that. Been doing it for nearly 24 yrs now. Had enough. I'll stick it out until I can get a full pension then look for something else until the kids are out of school/college/Uni'. I gave a few clues in the thread about the Sherpa. Used to thrash white ones with orange stripes around the streets of West London a few years ago. When I first started they still had the 'ding-a-ling' bell fitted behind the grille operated by a sprung toggle switch on the dash. Happy days!

Bet you have seen some sights and have some stories under your belt....i really don't think I could face your job in this day & age of knife wielding teenagers etc....my dad used to be in the specials and attended local footy games at Charlton and events etc....He got badly beaten up and called it a day...must say I admire your bravery!

Well, Baz, it is obviously the Standard you've been suppling to us inhabitants of the capital (well, I used to be one!..)

Personally, I'm currently in the middle of Norway in a mad folk music festival. My girlfiend's group had a concert here earlier this evening, but now the beer - and folk music - and country dance - is flowing as easily along as the beer. What a superb evening this has turned out to be!

Just realised that I've got another houre worth of partying :D
 
wonder when i have to change the time config - it always caatches me out something to do with offset and DST in the states, these things are never simple!

Bravery? No, youthful stupidity goes a long way when you're a young copper. Dealing with, usually, drunken 'fighty' people was good fun to be honest when I was in my 20s. During my 30s I settled down, got married, 3 kids etc and pretty soon getting home in one piece was more important. Had my fair share of knocks and bruises over the years. Now in my 40s (divorced) and office bound. Leave the fighting to the young guns!
