After a very hot and sticky day yesterday we had the mother of all thunder storms last night :oops: A couple of bolts struck nearby as the flash and bang was instantaneous and the house shook. The power was off this morning but thankfully reset OK with the only casualties being the pond pump, and alarm sensor that now makes strange noises when you pass by and a security camera that has remarkably fixed itselfo_O
 
Those storms passed our way too, probably a while earlier. We watched for two hours, and the sky hardly went dark during that time. Nature at its most wonderful.

A few years ago we had a strike down our overhead telephone line which blew every piece of electronic equipment in the place. We thought we had found all the damage, then a month later the smoke detector batteries had run down and we realised they had been trashed too. One of the tweeter cones in the speakers was fired across the room. We have invested in spike protection since then, and not had a problem since. (Reaches for wood to touch):)
 
I remember when I was a kid and we lived in Sth Africa the warning of a close electrical storm was if the phone ‘dinged’ we then rushed round unplugging everything. We must have had a church phone back then as it had a bell in it.
