just finished, changed the intercooler hoses (big splits in them), the PCV filter (completely clogged) & took out the EGR valve and cleaned all the crud out - it now runs sweet as a nut - better than when i first got it - my garage was adamant i needed a new turbo.... cheeky bugger

So I was right then??
Not a bad diagnosis down a computer without even seeing the car and still not knowing the model year:Dlol

Its an EGR valve by the way not an ERV lol but if thats what you prefer to call it[;)Admin is right about a piece of metal for a bypass!! thats all they do alot of the time on the recirculation pipe,is blank them off as there only an emmisions device to keep the goverment bods happy;)

A commer with boost will be appering on a screen near you soon!

on the Landy forum they were calling it an exhaust recirc valve - thats where i got ERV from, either way, car is running so much better now - however had a gulp when the battery light flickered for about 10 seconds coming home tonight - it cleared and there were no visible faults??? ..... fingers crossed it doesnt come back

not quite, its the ERV with the exhaust inlet blanked, the piston which sat in the air stream and would have interrupted the air flow from the turbo is gone and the vacuum hose connection is blanked. so basically a means of connecting the hose from the intercooler to the air manifold without all the restrictions in side - worth £25 in my opinion especially if it keeps all that soot out

"had a right good time cleaning that out."

Bloody well must have done, when you wandered round the hedge you looked like a black and white minstrel.

fired the old beast up the other day, sounds sweet, well sort of, just a bit loud as no exhaust on it at the moment. also need a new master cylinder for the brakes as the rubbers inside have disintegrated, so no brakes at the mo.:p
