The time has come . . .

I've spent the last few days beautifying Lola's interior - slightly set-back by getting a blow-out yesterday . . .I was thanking my lucky stars she only has a top speed of 53 mph! So I now need to purchase yet another new tyre - Oh well! She's still rough around the edges as you can see:

they come from a rover 75. if you are looking for something easier to fit you could try any flat fronted van. some are bound to be the same if not close enough;)

Wow your interior looks brilliant, in really good condition[8D]
A word of advice with replacement seats - make sure they're not too wide that they get in the way of the engine lid lifting and not too high that your feet wont reach the floor:I

How refreshing

That's good advice - weirdly, I had a dream the other night that I got cobra-style mini seats and my feet wouldn't touch the floor :I. . . I've since gone off them!!!

Lots done but so much more still to do. My advice to your BF would be to buy the absolute best condition Beetle he can find. Beetles aren't selling so well these days as everybody wants a van. So there are good cars at good prices out there. If I was looking for a Beetle just now I'd be looking for a 1967 1500

I've been looking for inspiration for Lola's restoration and found this - does anyone here own it?

And it has the seats I've been looking for.
Does anyone have fold down front bench seats like this? I'm thinking about having them fabricated . . .

I have the same front bench and that is how I want mine to look in bed mode :)

Commerchris had my spare bench seat - not sure if she kept it or sold it on?

The bench seats seem to me to be like hens teeth to get a hold of - still undecided on whether I need more comfort whilst sleeping or driving! I shall contact commerchris to find out more. Thanks nickclubman - the colours will change, as they were the colours of my school uniform.
Renaultvation - do you have a wanderer too? How's the roof, have you ever modified it? The wooden bits in Lola's roof are rotting - I really want to keep the roof so I'm looking into having it refurbished . . .ideally I'd like it replaced with balsa wood or polystyrene, it's so heavy!

Had rather than have - it was a long time ago. However, Bernie has done a full roof rebuild on Gladys and recorded the whole process which you can find here: http://forum.commervanfan.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5557

I have always thought the Wanderer roof is the best looking on a Commer, but unfortunately it is not the most robust!

I think balsa or polystyrene would be a bit flimsy:I When you do get it done see about getting gas struts fitted, like on the tailgate of a hatch back, that would make raising the roof a lot easier:I

Cheers for the video renaultvation!Panky, I was trying to be funny :I ... Making the point that the wanderer roof is so heavy, but forgive my silliness. Gas struts are a brilliant idea. I definitely want to keep the wanderer roof.
I really appreciate all the advice, tips and comments, thanks so so much. :D
