The dreaded heater air box

Hi all,
been having another go at the above and almost completed the restoration but can't make out how the rod in the centre of the box attaches to the flap. I have tried to work it out from the exploded view in the parts book but i'm a bit stumped as the springy piece of metal on the flap seems to have something missing(rotted away)where the rod fits:(:(.
Can anyone enlighten me or if anyone has an airbox that they could get some pictures from it would be most appreciated.
Cheers

Trev can you post a pic of where your at it may help :) I never did find the one I am sure we have, any wonder when its buried under 10 litres of engines [:0]
but I did see the rod that goes to the flap,it opens & shuts it,just behind the top grill?[8)]

Hi Chris, i don't seem to be able view the pictures that you have uploaded, all get is the aol pictures home page.
I have taken some pictures myself, just spent ages putting them on photobucket and then putting the addresses on here when i lost the aol connection. I have to go out now otherwise i would re-insert them
but takes to long so will try later.
Cheers

Hi Chris, thanks for the pic's,unfortunately the bits i need to see are missing on your air box, but i think i have worked out how it operates, although if any one else has one that operates as it should i would still appreciate a picture to confirm my thoughts.
These pictures are of the old flap and rod assembly. It would appear that the rod has a spring and the metal piece on the flap moves against the spring to hold the flap from moving about in the breeze as it were. The only thing i'm not sure of is what is atached to the metal piece where it fits onthe rod! Once again any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Trev
